Program Director Mario Santana is pleased to announce the award of a one-year post-doctoral fellowship to study traditional structures in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. Sujan Shrestha, who holds a Ph.D. in structural engineering from Sapienza University, Rome (2015), will use digital workflows to document and consider rehabilitation approaches to address damage caused by the devastating Gorkha earthquake of 2015 to traditional temples and stupas. Sujan’s work will also offer learning opportunities for other students in the NSERC CREATE Heritage Engineering program during 2016-17.
