Take a look at the Innovation Hub’s Summer Pitch Night!
On Thursday, August 17th, 2023, the Innovation Hub’s Summer Pitch Night took place in room 4030 of the Nicol building. The event welcomed a full house of students, program participants, members and faculty from the Carleton community, and OneHub staff at our Summer Pitch Night event.
Innovation Hub program participants worked hard over the past 2 months in our late summer programs, Nest and Changemaker, and the final element of each program is for students to present their business pitches. Participants have completed workshops which have strengthened their entrepreneurial knowledge and insight into the realities of starting a business. Program coordinators, John Nelson for Nest and Alex Zelenski for Changemaker, have pushed students to their full potential and helped them redefine their startups’ business models and perfect their final pitches.
Participants from both the Nest and Changemaker program pitched their brilliant business ideas to an expert panel of judges. The panel of judges consisted of Calvin Tong, Director of CU@Kanata, Jane van den Dries, Assistant Director, Academic Initiatives and Operations in the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), David Mosley, Founder of The Baypointe Group Inc., and Dotty Nwakanma, Associate Registrar at Carleton.
Participants of Changemaker were Anisa Mohamed, Eashan Uppal, Tasneem Zreg, and Ahmed Qalinle. Participants of the Nest program were Richard Sanths, Mekedes Abiy, Ariana Golshani, Jamila Nasser, and Anisa Mohamed. Attendees of the event stayed after to mingle and network while enjoying an arrangement of refreshments that the Innovation Hub supplied from Tim Hortons.
We’d like to give a special thank you to everyone who presented yesterday, the judges Jane van den Dries, Calvin Tong, Dotty Nwakanma, David Mosley, the MCs of the event Mitch and Alex, and the new Provost Pauline Rankin for attending our event.
