Contract/Memorandum of Agreement (“MOU”) drafting and review: Ensuring agreements with vendors, researchers, and partners are legally sound.

Governance support: Advising boards, senates, and senior leadership on bylaws, policies, and procedures.

Employment and labour law: Supporting HR with hiring, discipline, collective agreements, and workplace disputes.

Intellectual property: Advising on ownership, licensing, and protecting of research and create works.

Litigation and dispute resolutions: Managing legal claims, complaints, and coordinating with external counsel.

Legal compliance and legal risks management: Ensuring projects, events and contests comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Privacy compliance: Ensuring adherence to laws like FIPPA or PHIPA in data collection and handling.

Access to information: Managing requests under freedom of information legislation.

Training and awareness: Educating staff and faculty on privacy best practices and legal responsibilities.
