Caroline CoxCaroline hails from Timberlea, Nova Scotia, where she was raised with a strong commitment to giving back to her community. She decided to go into social work because she read in a course catalogue that when people face challenging times in their lives, they turn to social workers for help. In retrospect, she had no idea what that meant.

Caroline came to Ottawa to do her Bachelor of Social Work at Carleton, and started working at Shepherds of Good Hope’s downtown shelter as a front-line worker. She completed her BSW in 2009 and her MSW, from Dalhousie University, in 2012, but she kept coming back to Shepherds due to its innovative programming and amazing team. Over the years, she has worked in numerous capacities at Shepherds, most recently as Senior Manager of Communications.

Caroline recently transitioned to a new role as Senior Manager of Harm Reduction at Somerset West Community Health Centre in Ottawa. She took the part-time MPNL program to further develop her passion for the nonprofit sector and engage with inspiring instructors and classmates!

Caroline lives in Chelsea, Quebec, with her husband, a rambunctious four-year-old, and two equally rambunctious cats.
