Women in Philanthropy
Women have long been the quiet power in philanthropy. They have held tremendous influence as donors, board members, volunteers, professionals in foundations, charities and nonprofits, CEOs, founders of social enterprises, and societal changemakers. Women are gaining economic agency and are having even greater impact in the philanthropic and nonprofit sector.
Women in Philanthropy aims to support women who are starting or revisiting their philanthropic journeys and to build a field of research with practical applications. This project plans to:
- Facilitate mutual learning and create spaces for conversations among women philanthropists and changemakers of different generations and communities.
- Better understand the different paths women take in their philanthropy, assess the supporting roles of advisors, fundraisers and mentors, and share valuable lessons.
- Develop expertise and research capacity on women in philanthropy by increasing the number of Canadian scholars engaged in the field.
- Advance awareness and thought leadership of women in philanthropy by communicating our findings with wider audiences.
