Carleton University Hosting 2018 Canada-Wide Science Fair

May 11, 2018

Five hundred of Canada’s top young scientists are at Carleton University from May 12 to 19 to showcase their innovative projects, with an expected attendance of some 10,000 members of the public, students and educators.

The Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) engages youth in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) solutions to real-world problems. Organized by Youth Science Canada, participating students are between the ages of 12 and 18 and compete for nearly $1 million in prizes and scholarships.

“We are very excited that Youth Sciences Canada have once again chosen Carleton to host the Canada-Wide Science Fair,” says Dwight Duego, Carleton’s interim dean of Science. “The fair provides a unique opportunity for our faculty, staff and alumni to engage with and inspire some of the brightest young minds in Canada.”

On May 18, the Science Minister Kirsty Duncan will join the three grand winners of the CWSF to discuss the inspiration, motivation and support behind their winning projects.

The CWSF will be open to the public with its STEM expo at the Fieldhouse and Raven’s Nest from May 16 to May 18.
