As a part of Carleton University’s Science Café series, Angelo Mingarelli, professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, will present Leonardo’s Excursions into Mathematics.
In this talk, Mingarelli will discuss Leonardo da Vinci’s work in the realm of mathematics – specifically in the areas of arithmetic and geometry.
When: Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Sunnyside Branch of the Ottawa Public Library, 1049 Bank Street, Ottawa
Info: This event is free and open to the public.
Media are invited to attend the event.
Mingarelli will explore how da Vinci spent close to 20 years trying to “square the circle” and solve mathematical problems that, today, are known to be unsolvable.
The Science Café series is organized by the Faculty of Science at Carleton to discuss relevant issues facing our society and how science can help solve real-world problems. Meet some of our award-winning faculty members and graduate students as they share their excitement about science with the community.
