Carleton to Host Two-Day Space Agency Hackathon
Carleton University’s Technology Innovation Management (TIM) program will host Ottawa’s NASA International Space Apps Hackathon 2019. This 48-hour event will bring together developers, designers, engineers, entrepreneurs, astronomers and enthusiasts to compete in challenges designed by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).
Ottawa is one of more than 200 cities participating in this global competition.
Media are invited to attend the following hackathon events:
Welcome and Opening Kickoff
When: Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
Where: Room 311, St. Patrick’s Building, Carleton

Presentations, Judging and Award Ceremony
When: Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, presentations begin at 3 p.m., awards ceremony begins at 5 p.m.

Space Apps Ottawa 2019 will enable participants to experience, experiment and explore solutions to our universe’s biggest challenges.
Five categories of NASA challenges invite participants to use real NASA data to solve problems and explore systems. The categories are: Earth’s Oceans, Our Moon, Planets Near and Far, To The Stars, and Living in Our World. CSA challenges are related to actual missions and use CSA data to solve problems relevant to Canada. Participants may also invent their own challenge.
As part of the hackathon, CSA staff will be on site. Carleton’s TIM program is a sponsor of the event.
