Joseph Bennett
Professor, Institute of Environmental Science and Department of Biology at Carleton University

Bennett is available to speak about biodiversity conservation, endangered species and ecosystems. His research areas include conservation prioritization, threatened species, invasion ecology, environmental policy and spatial statistics. He has a particular interest in practical questions regarding invasive species control and management to protect threatened species. He regularly undertakes ecological and social research to help improve Canadian environmental policy.

Rachel Buxton
Professor, Department of Biology at Carleton University

Buxton is available to discuss how soothing nature sounds can reduce stress and benefit individual mental health, noise pollution, the health benefits of nature, and urban bird conservation.

Buxton’s main research interests include soundscapes, seabird ecology, ecological restoration, and systematic conservation planning.

Leanne Keddie
Professor, Sprott School of Business at Carleton University

Keddie is available to discuss sustainability and the role of business, including how firms measure and report their impact on society and the environment, the use of financial incentives, and the role of the circular economy, an economic system based on the reuse and regeneration of materials and products.

Keddie’s research examines corporate sustainability reporting, sustainable bonuses being paid by companies to executives as part of corporate compensation plans, and sustainability performance. Her current research project looks at how companies pay bonuses based on greenhouse gas emission goals.
