Continue in Non-Honours (CN)
A decision of Continue in Non-Honours (CN) means that you are an Honours student who has not met the academic standards to continue in your program.
Ordinarily, you would have been assigned a decision of Required to Withdraw for Two Terms (WT); however, since your program is offered at the Non-Honours level, and you meet the requirements for Eligible to Continue (EC) in the Non-Honours program, the University has placed you in the corresponding Non-Honours program.
Students whose Honours program does not have a corresponding Non-Honours program may also receive the decision of Continue in Non-Honours (CN) and be placed in an alternate Non-Honours program based on their course history.
As a result of this evaluation, you can:
- Continue in and complete the Non-Honours degree, or
- Complete courses as though you were still in the Honours program in an effort to raise your CGPA(s) and be re-admitted at a later date. If you decide that you want to complete your Honours degree, it is important that you meet with an advisor at the Academic Advising Centre as soon as possible. The advisor can review your Academic Continuation Evaluation decision, discuss course selection, and explain the requirements to get back into the Honours program.
- You may also apply to change your major within your degree, as long as you meet the minimum academic requirements for a new major (see “Change of Program Elements” below).
Below you will find some important resources and information to help you with your continued studies.

With a Continue in Non-honours (CN) decision, your degree status will automatically change to the Non-honours program.
As a result of this decision, you will be permitted to complete your current courses; however, you may wish to consider adjustments to your registration, it is recommended that you contact the Academic Advising Centre or your Departmental Advisor to discuss your options.
If, as a result of this decision, you wish to withdraw from your current term courses, please make sure that you withdraw yourself in Carleton Central before the published deadlines.
Please note that even if you are successful in your current term courses, your Academic Continuation Evaluation decision will not change.
If you withdraw from current courses within the academic withdrawal deadline but after the deadline for a tuition adjustment, and wish to inquire if you may be eligible to submit a petition for a tuition adjustment, you must contact the Registrar’s Office by e-mail at registrar@carleton.ca within 14 calendar days from the date your Academic Continuation Evaluation decision is posted in Carleton Central.

myAudit: Reading your Audit
It is important that you become familiar with your audit and review it on a regular basis. We encourage you to review your audit after every registration period to ensure that you are on track for graduation! The Academic Advising Centre has a ‘How to read your audit’ webpage that includes a ‘myAudit: Introduction’ video tutorial.
myAudit: Working with Planned Courses and What-If Audits
The online video tutorials will guide you through the process of running an audit with Planned Courses and/or a What-If audit for program changes. This tool allows you to see how Planned Courses would affect your academic requirements in your current or a potential new program.
ASR: Academic Status Report
The Academic Status Report (ASR) is a companion tool for the academic audit that displays real-time information regarding your degree program status in a user-friendly format. The ASR is designed to highlight common University graduation requirements and identify potential barriers or areas of concern.
