Privacy Policy

We recognize and respect the importance of your privacy at Carleton University. Personal information is collected in accordance with Sections 38(2) and 41(1) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), R.S.0 1990, c.F.31 as amended. The provided information will only be used to support your student record and will only be shared as needed to support your inquiries. Carleton University is fully compliant with FIPPA and endeavors at all times to treat your personal information in accordance with this law. If you choose to authorize the release of your personal academic information to a third party, you will need to complete a third-party release form. See the the Release of Information to a Third Party webpage.

Record Retention

All documents submitted to the University by way of an application for admission, residence, financial awards, appeals or petitions become the property of the University. All original documents submitted form an official part of the student record and only copies of the original will be open to access. Carleton University currently retains electronic student files for all students in compliance with the University’s privacy policy. Original documents that have been digitized for inclusion in the student’s file are destroyed in compliance with the University’s privacy policies.
