What is a Verification of Student Status (VOSS)?

  • The Verification of Student Status (VOSS) details the student’s program, year in program, enrolment status, and current academic session dates and can be used by students to access Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) funds or obtain other financial assistance. Make sure your registration is complete before requesting your VOSS.
  • The VOSS is accepted by all Registered Education Savings Plans Providers as well as most other institutions.

How do I access a Verification of Student Status (VOSS)?

  • Select “Request a Transcript/Certificate of Enrolment/Verification of Student Status” from the main menu on Carleton Central.
  • The information on your Verification of Student Status (VOSS) is current to the day you placed your request. Please review your VOSS to confirm that your Year of Study and Current Enrolment Status information is correct before submitting the form to your provider. If the information is out of date, please resubmit the request once the status has been updated.
  • VOSS requests will be sent to your Carleton email account within two working days. The electronic document is official and will be accepted by all Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) providers and most other institutions. We do not email third parties.
  • Please do not send us your paper RESP forms, as they will be returned to sender. These forms should be sent directly to your provider along with the VOSS.
  • Please note that all inquiries regarding your specific Registered Education Savings Plan, including deadlines, eligibility, delaying payments, and withdrawing funds must be done through the specific company.
