Dismissed from Program (DP)

Information about the minimum CGPA requirements for Degree Students can be found in Section 3.2.6 of the Undergraduate Calendar.

Please note that some degree programs have additional requirements to be Eligible to Continue (EC), these are listed in Section 3.2.7 of the Undergraduate Calendar.

All rules and regulations pertaining to the Academic Continuation Evaluation can be found in Section 3.2 of the Undergraduate Calendar and general information can be found on the Registrar’s Office website.

As a result of this decision, you will be permitted to complete your current term courses, you will be withdrawn from any future term registration and your status will be changed to Special Student effective the current term; however, you may wish to consider adjustments to your registration, it is recommended that you contact the Academic Advising Centre.

If, as a result of this decision, you wish to withdraw from your current term courses, please make sure that you withdraw yourself in Carleton Central before the published deadlines.

Please note that even if you are successful in your current term courses, your Academic Continuation Evaluation decision will not change.

If you withdraw from current courses within the academic withdrawal deadline but after the deadline for a tuition adjustment, and wish to inquire if you may be eligible to submit a petition for a tuition adjustment, you must contact the Registrar’s Office by e-mail at registrar@carleton.ca within 14 calendar days from the date your Academic Continuation Evaluation decision is posted in Carleton Central.

If you are an International student, you should contact the International Student Services Office for information on how this Academic Continuation Evaluation decision may impact your eligibility to continue studies at Carleton. Please contact an advisor at the Global Opportunities & International Student Service Office (ISSO) to review your situation.

When you have a decision of Dismissed from Program (DP), you are eligible to study as a Special student until you are admitted to a new degree program. Special Student information and the application are available on the Registrar’s Office website. Additional information regarding the regulations that apply to Special students can be found in Section 6 of the Undergraduate Calendar.

For registration information, please review the Registration Website. If you need help with your registration, Carleton University also offers registration assistance through the Student Registration Assistance Team at certain times of the year to support the fall and winter registration periods.

myAudit: Reading your Audit
It is important that you become familiar with your audit and review it on a regular basis. We encourage you to review your audit after every registration period to ensure that you are on track for graduation! The Academic Advising Centre has a ‘How to read your audit’ webpage that includes a ‘myAudit: Introduction’ video tutorial.

myAudit: Working with Planned Courses and What-If Audits
The online video tutorials will guide you through the process of running an audit with Planned Courses and/or a What-If audit for program changes. This tool allows you to see how Planned Courses would affect your academic requirements in your current or a potential new program.

ASR: Academic Status Report
The Academic Status Report (ASR) is a companion tool for the academic audit that displays real-time information regarding your degree program status in a user-friendly format. The ASR is designed to highlight common University graduation requirements and identify potential barriers or areas of concern.

The Awards and Financial Aid Office administers various awards, scholarships, and government loan programs (e.g., OSAP).
