Serena Smith

Research Assistant

7aawee Jaad, or Serena Smith, belongs to the Ts’aahl ‘Laanas clan in the Haida Nation. She was born and raised in the village of Skidegate and is currently a Master’s of Public Policy and Administration candidate at Carleton University. As a research assistant and student, Serena’s interests include policies that uphold inherent rights and title, strengthen Indigenous lives, and support the self-determination of Indigenous communities. She has gained experience in Indigenous relations, consultation and accommodation, and marine transportation policy through her work in the federal government.
