Ben Sylvestre
Research Assistant, RFNG Secretariat
Ben Sylvestre is a Canadian settler who has spent most of his life on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabe territory in both Ottawa and Deep River, Ontario.
Ben is a recent graduate of Carleton University’s B. Journalism program. His colleagues know him for an approach to communicating that is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. He is interested in bringing a human element to stories about social issues, science, and health.
As a communicator, Ben hopes to use his skills to uplift the voices of First Nations peoples and communities. He wants to help shed light on Canada’s colonial oppression of Indigenous peoples and sovereignty.
Ben is excited to support the Rebuilding First Nations Governance Project and its mission to work with First Nations communities transitioning to their own inherent rights governance.
