Draco Recalma

Draco Recalma is from the pentl’ach and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm nations, and mixed Scottish/British ancestry.
Draco is completing his BA in political science at the University of Victoria. Draco is passionate about policy analysis, Indigenous GBA+, Indigenous politics in Canada and the administrative aspects of supporting Indigenous governance in contemporary contexts.
Draco also works in the environmental and impact assessment field and has experience with Indigenous engagement on matters related to legal/treaty rights and ancestral rights of Indigenous peoples when considering potential impacts to the lands, resources, culture, and intergenerational knowledge transmission. Draco is enthusiastic about the never-ending journey of learning and feels honoured to have the opportunity of being a research assistant on the Rebuilding First Nations Governance project.
