Narayan Subramoniam
Research Associate
Narayan Subramoniam (he/him) is a master’s student in Geography at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Northern Sustainable Food Systems Research Group. His research interests include northern Indigenous food sovereignty and aligning federal government policies with place-based Indigenous self-determination efforts. With an undergraduate background in Mathematics (University of Waterloo) and Business Administration (Wilfrid Laurier University), Narayan brings a multi-disciplinary approach towards supporting community projects at several scales.
He is a racialized settler-immigrant who grew up in the Middle East and migrated to Canada moving between Tkaronto, Haldimand Treaty territory (Kitchener-Waterloo), and unceded Algonquin territory (Ottawa). He now lives in Tkaronto which is in the Dish With One Spoon territory, a Treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee.
He hopes to bring his positionalities, educational background, and experience from both private and public sectors towards his role as a Research Associate prioritizing rebuilding First Nations governance.
