Feb. 4, 2021
Good afternoon faculty members and librarians,
The Carleton Board of Governors has launched a reappointment process for President and Vice-Chancellor Benoit-Antoine Bacon. If reappointed, he will serve a second five-year term from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2028.
The initial step of the reappointment process is assembling a 13-person advisory committee. The committee will commence its work in March and make their recommendation to the board at the June 1, 2021 meeting. The Carleton University Senate is currently accepting applications for FIVE of the advisory committee positions:
- THREE people from among tenured faculty members and professional librarians;
- ONE undergraduate student;
- ONE graduate student.
These individuals will be elected by Senate. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the appointment guidelines and submit an expression of interest by 4pm on Feb. 15, 2021.
Once the advisory committee is assembled, all members of the Carleton community will have an opportunity to submit feedback relevant to the reappointment process.
Carleton is committed to transparency, and all updates concerning the President and Vice-Chancellor’s reappointment will be posted on the Board of Governors website. If you have any questions, please reach out to University Secretary, Amanda Goth (amandagoth@cunet.carleton.ca) or me (clerkofsenate@carleton.ca).
Sincerely,
Betina Appel Kuzmarov
Clerk of Senate
