Debra Alves, CFA, is the Managing Director / CEO of the CBC Pension Plan.  She is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management and administration of the Pension Plan which includes the investment management of over $6 billion of assets and the provision of pension administration services to 19,000 members. Debra has held this position since 2007 and has been with the organization since 1997.

Prior to joining CBC / Radio-Canada she held a number of senior posts at the Treasury and Pension Fund offices of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation from 1988 to 1997, as well as at the Farm Credit Corporation from 1982 to 1988.

Debra currently sits on the pension committees of Carleton University and the Ottawa International Airport.  She has also served on not-for-profit boards including the Victoria Order of Nurses and the investment committee of the Community Foundation of Ottawa.

Debra holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science and Economics) from the University of Western Ontario, a Masters of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Tampa and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.

Debra was elected to the Board of Governors for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2016 and ending June 30, 2019 and has renewed for an additional three-year term, ending June 30, 2022.
