Wondering what to expect from an academic job talk, and how to prepare for one? Join us for an interactive panel discussion with Carleton alumni, Dr. Amanda Wilson (Assistant Professor at Saint Paul University), Dr. Gülden Özcan (Assistant Professor at University of Lethbridge) and Dr. Derek Silva (Assistant Professor at King’s University College). Our panelists will discuss strategies for nailing the job talk and share insights into what hiring committees are looking for during the interview process. And yes, there will be plenty of time for an audience Q&A!

The Graduate Student Transitions Series is a peer-based workshop series that focuses on equipping graduate students and recent alumni with resources, strategies and information about a wide range of career paths available post-grad school. These hands-on, skill-building workshops cover a range of topics, from developing essential tools for the job market (CVs, resumes, teaching dossiers) to navigating the job market itself (networking, applying for postdocs, preparing for interviews and job talks).
