Please join us at 7 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, March 31 for Community Voices: Learning from Indigenous Leaders with Kyrstin Dumont and Marc Maracle. This event is an excellent opportunity to learn about some of the struggles for equity and against racism and colonialism in the wider communities in which many of us live.
This is an annual event, hearing from the knowledge, expertise and experience of community leaders.
Marc Maracle is a Mohawk from the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and has been involved with First Nations and Indigenous issues over the course of his 38- year professional career. His initial background was in architectural design and the preparation of construction documents and capital project management. His background also includes community development; economic development; program/project design and management; program/project evaluation; negotiations of federal transfers of program management; communications; facilitation; conflict resolution; and, strategic planning.
Kyrstin Dumont is a passionate, caring young woman and a proud band member of the Algonquins of Kitigan Zibi. She has been awarded 3 times for her work within and outside of the Indigenous communities. Kyrstin has taken part in sacred walks to protect the water, spoken on Parliament Hill about climate justice and human rights, and spoken at the House of Commons about the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls genocide. She is an advocate, an educator, and a mentor to her family and community alike.
