“A PhD in Sociology from Carleton University has positioned me to work in the addiction and mental health field. After securing a Research Chair in substance abuse at the University of Saskatchewan for a decade, I have been fortunate to go into a second Chair in One Health and Wellness. It really is my dream job – I study the impact of the human-animal bond on human health and animal welfare, and bridge my sociological training with offering therapy dog programming in the community. And I get to work with so many dogs! I never anticipated this in my future, but I did know that my Sociology degree form Carleton University prepared me for a multitude of career opportunities and the ability to contribute to my community.”
