Manpreet Dhillon is a Ph.D. candidate at the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. He has an undergraduate degree in English Literature, an M.A. in Sociology and has completed his M.Phil at the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance on, “Biopolitics of DNA: Human DNA Profiling in India” under the supervision of Prof. Niraja Gopal Jayal and Dr. Pratiksha Baxi. He is interested in pursuing the question of how technologies shape human societies and vice versa and thus his work converses with the disciplines of Science Technology Society Studies (STS) and Socio-Legal Studies. His current research focuses on the use of DNA Profiling in the Criminal Justice System in India and he is working with Dr. Neil Gerlach as his research advisor in Canada. He likes listening to music, especially jazz and blues and tasting different cuisines and cultures. He is visiting Carleton University on a Doctoral Shastri Research Student Fellowship (SRSF) for 2017-18 granted by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (https://www.shastriinstitute.org/).
