De-Escalation Training
This workshop is hosted by Campus Safety Services and will provide strategies and approaches to empower staff or faculty to manage their response during challenging interpersonal conflicts or difficult conversations.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this workshop, staff and faculty will be able to:
- Recognize early indicators of anger, hostility or violence
- Describe strategies to maintain professionalism and calm in the face of hostility
- Identify how to utilize space, body language and communication to de-escalate and defuse
- Recall when and how to contact CSS
What to expect at the session
Session length: 1.5 hours
This workshop may include the following activities:
- Periods of sitting
- Listening to a facilitator
- Discussion and interaction with colleagues
- Viewing a multimedia presentation
