The TIM Program does the art and science of new things
For over 30 years, The Technology Innovation Management (TIM) program at Carleton University has been helping organizations prepare for and harness the power of change. At TIM, we develop the attitude, knowledge, and skills needed to navigate change and create wealth. We do this by embracing the art and science of new things.
The TIM Program is an internationally recognized master’s program designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs and technology innovation leaders with the skills to create wealth in new ventures and drive growth within established companies. TIM focuses on launching and scaling new businesses using emerging technologies to transform the marketplace, as well as implementing digital transformation and growth initiatives within existing firms.
TIM benefits a wide range of professionals, including startup founders, engineering, business, and science professionals aspiring to senior leadership roles, and those looking to build credentials and expertise for career advancement. The program emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning by engaging students in real-world business challenges. TIM offers five specialized master’s degrees in Technology Innovation Management, offered collaboratively by the Sprott School of Business and the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
- The Master of Science (MSc) degree is thesis-based. Students undertake original research to address a highly relevant technology management issue under the supervision of an experienced faculty member.
- The Master of Technology (MTech) is a dynamic, project-based degree designed for aspiring technology leaders. This program equips students with practical skills and critical thinking abilities to drive innovation and manage technology projects. (Starting Fall 2025)
- The Master of Applied Business Analytics (MABA) is a degree in the TIM program that targets individuals who want to specialize in the application of advanced business analytics tools to solving technology innovation management and entrepreneurship problems.
- The Master of Entrepreneurship (MEnt) degree is also project-based. Students employ applied research to shape the value propositions of new technology ventures, improve the health of business ecosystems that deliver specialized services to founders of new companies, or design new lines of business at existing companies.
- The Master of Digital Transformation & Entrepreneurship (MDTE) degree enables aspiring young professionals to acquire the leadership skills and competences needed to lead digital transformation initiatives in new and existing organizations; learn how new technologies such as blockchain, AI and IoT can be used to create new value propositions.
