Mission

Our mission is to provide accountable, efficient and integrated fundraising, gifts processing, research and systems services in support of the university, our alumni and donors.

Goals

The goal of Advancement Services is to raise funds in support of university-wide priorities, to maximize the accuracy of our database, to expedite tax receipts, to provide comprehensive research services and to provide timely and comprehensive reports along with leading edge system support and programming.

Records & Research

The responsibility of Records & Research is to provide systematic and free-from-error maintenance of the university’s vital records of Carleton alumni, faculty & staff, parents and friends.

Research & Records performs integral database and customer service functions and are responsible for the continual maintenance of data stored in the SCT Banner database. Data integrity is maintained through ongoing updating of constituent information.

Prospect Research

Prospect Research is a proactive research program which analyzes financial, social and business sources critical to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and management of prospects, donors and volunteers.

Prospect Research promotes strong communication with all members of University Advancement, as the mutual sharing of information can lead to excellent results for the University.

Gifts Administration

The role of Gifts Administration at Carleton is to accept donations, provide charitable tax receipts, express thanks to our donors for their support and to forward these funds to the donor-designated Faculty, Department, Award or Program.

We offer a variety of reports to all those interested in the success of Carleton University’s Annual Fund and Major Giving Programs. We currently manage the Ontario Trust Fund for Student Support.

Information Systems

Information Systems strives to implement innovative and cutting-edge technologies to assist Carleton University to fulfill its mission. Information Services creates and maintains computer systems to ensure access to high quality, secure and reliable alumni, donor and fund-raising information.

Support ranges from the administration of primary fund-raising information systems to assessing, implementing and supporting end-user data access solutions as well as coordinating data sharing strategies.

We are committed to continual quality assurance and customer service.

Annual Giving

Each year Carleton relies on the generosity of alumni, parents and friends to provide support for current university-wide priorities. Gifts made to the Annual Fund go directly to the programs and projects that matter most to our alumni, students, and friends.

The fundraising programs of the Annual Fund raise money to provide Carleton the flexibility to fund its most important university-wide projects each year including student aid, the MacOdrum Library, and the Centre for Initiatives in Education. These important donations, are raised through our Annual Giving Phone Program, targeted Direct Mail, and e-solicitations.

Awards Administration

Gifts to Carleton are often used to create financial awards for students – a truly rewarding experience. Whether you’re an individual, family, faculty member or alumni group, anyone can create a student award. Your gift immediately improves the lives of students. Your award can encourage academic excellence and perseverance. Or, your gift can honour the memory of a loved one.
