The Institute of African Studies Presents

“Ebola: A roundtable discussion of the Responses, Perceptions and the Pandemic”

with

Valerie Percival, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (Carleton)

Joshua Greenberg, Journalism and Communication (Carleton)

Paul Mkandawire, Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies (Carleton)

This roundtable will discuss the ongoing pandemic of ebola in West Africa which is currently spread throughout Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, with cases reported in Nigeria and Senegal and which is spreading panic far beyond those borders. The speakers will discuss the pandemic, the national and international public health responses, and the perceptions of ebola in Canada itself.

This is part of the African Studies Umeme: African Flashpoints Series
Umeme: African Flashpoints brings together experts in a roundtable format to discuss such current experiences which confront the people in different locations in Africa, and which roll across media screens and pages across the world. Umeme is KiSwahili for lightning, the perilous bolt of electricity flashing across the sky which demands attention and reactions.
