Train the Trainer: Engaging Faculty in Developing Learning Program-Level Outcomes

Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

As the first step in the learning outcomes assessment cycle, the development of program-specific learning outcomes can make or break a unit’s faith in the process.

In this session, we will discuss different approaches for identifying program-level learning outcomes, including the Learning Outcomes Workshop we have developed at Carleton. This workshop was developed to combat resistance to LOA practices, promote the engagement of individual faculty members, and build consensus around program-specific learning goals. We will also discuss the additional benefits of the learning outcomes development, such as opportunities for program planning and problem solving, and increased communication among faculty, staff, and students.

This workshop is geared towards anyone working in quality assurance, program-level learning outcomes, or anyone with an interest in goal-oriented, evidenced-based approaches to assessment.

Facilitators: Eileen Harris and Andy Thompson, Office of the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic)
