Any changes to the academic calendar for courses or programs are submitted annually through Courseleaf. These changes are classified as either major or minor. The workflow designation of each modification constitutes how the curricular changes are approved.
Major Modifications
In accordance with Carleton’s Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP), major modifications are classified into three categories: A1, A2 and B.
A1 Major modifications require the development of an executive summary. The executive summary will be considered by the approval committees (VPARC, SCCASP, SQAPC and Senate), in parallel to the approvals by these committees through Courseleaf. These will require review and approval by Faculty Curriculum Committees and Faculty Board by November 30 of the given academic year.
A2 Major modifications require the development of an executive summary. The executive summary will be considered by the approval committees (SCCASP, SQAPC, and Senate), in parallel to the approvals by these committees through Courseleaf. These will require review and approval by Faculty Curriculum Committees and Faculty Board by November 30 of the given academic year.
B Major modifications require a summary and rationale of curricular changes to be entered into courseleaf. The entry will be considered by the approval committees (SCCASP, SQAPC, and Senate). These will require review and approval by Faculty Curriculum Committees and Faculty Board by November 30 of the given academic year.

Minor Modifications
Minor modifications require the summary and rationale of curricular changes to be entered into Courseleaf. The entry will be considered by the approval committees (SCCASP and Senate). These will require review and approval by Faculty Curriculum Committees and Faculty Board by November 30 of the given academic year.
