Volunteers Needed for Brain Awareness Week!
Every year the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Ottawa chapter holds Brain Awareness Week, where our volunteers reach out to the community to teach the younger generation of students about the brain. Brain Awareness 2024 will be composed of two events:
Brain Awareness Week at School:
What? Visit classrooms ranging from elementary to high school to teach about the brain
When? March 4 to 8
Where? Local schools in Ottawa
Brain Awareness Week at the Museum:
What? Facilitate interactive activity stations in the museum
When? March 13 to 15 (11am-3pm)
Where? Canada Science and Technology Museum (located 1867 St Laurent Blvd, Ottawa)
If you are a 2nd to 4th year undergraduate or graduate student studying neuroscience, or a related discipline, please register to volunteer here! No previous experience necessary, training and presentation materials will be provided. French speaking volunteers always appreciated! This is a great opportunity for students to connect with the community and pass on your passion for neuroscience. Carleton students can receive CCR credit for their participation and volunteers who go above and beyond with their involvement (i.e. more than one event/presentation) are welcome to request reference letters. Register here before February 16.
