Supervisor: Dr. Tom Sherratt

Carleton Experience: My experience at Carleton was absolutely positive. I am very lucky to have worked and collaborated with many great professors, lab coordinators, and fellow grad students in the Faculty of Science. My thesis supervisor Tom Sherratt was an absolutely essential resource for information and inspiration, and my lab mates in the Sherratt lab were hard-working, approachable and academically brilliant.

My last teaching assignment took place largely online and my supervisor Roslyn Dakin took many steps to ensure students were accommodated and she never hesitated to listen to both my input and student feedback during the transition to online learning. My thesis defense took place over Zoom, which was a unique challenge. However, the professors on my committee, as well as the internal examiner/chair of my defense, all contributed to make the endeavor more than manageable. I am so thankful to all of the people who worked with me as I finished my degree and my thesis in the midst of a global pandemic.

Goals for the Future: The next step for me is attending teacher’s college to obtain my BEd. I hope to take all that I have learned and one day instill the same love for education and scientific understanding/discovery that was exhibited by many of my mentors at Carleton.
