Program Requirements

| Full-time students normally complete the PhD program requirements in four to five years. | Part-time study is available. |
The following requirements must be met in order to complete the program:
- Completion of coursework and credit requirements, as laid out in the Graduate Calendar.
- Completion of an oral Qualifying Examination (within 18 months of entry into the program).
- Presentation of at least one public seminar on the candidate’s thesis research.
- Completion of a thesis incorporating the results of original research.
- Successful oral defence of the thesis before an examination board.
