Nadine Simpson is a graduate student and student researcher at Carleton University in the MSc in Health Sciences program. Nadine is a passionate advocate for students and equity-owed populations and served as CUPE Health Sciences Steward for 2025/26.
Nadine has years of leadership experience stemming from her community work in providing peer support and systems navigation with a Community Advisory Board. Equipped with an intersectional, systems-level approach to governance decisions and firsthand experience engaging with academic institutions, healthcare systems, housing providers, and government bodies,; Nadine’s experience has given her insight into how policy decisions translate into real-world impacts, especially for students balancing caregiving, financial strain, disability, or mental health challenges. Nadine takes an evidence-informed approach to decision-making, data interpretation and risk assessment and couples that with experience in policy analysis and knowledge translation, and her work synthesizing complex information into clear, actionable recommendations that support accountability, sustainability, and student success.
Nadine has volunteered with numerous organizations; she provided mental health support for peers and shared her experiences and stories at public speaking events through her work with The Royal and with the Ottawa Black Mental Health Coalition. Nadine also was a volunteer and community leader as a member of the Tenant Circle advocating for an agreement to build a walking path in her community.
