Maria Gruending

Bachelor of Humanities, Assistant Director of Policy, Canadian Dental Care Plan, Health Canada

B.Hum Graduate 2005

What was your experience like in the program?

I was exposed to rich books, ideas, art and music and continue my learning on all those fronts. I made excellent friends who have helped me with my career, my family, and kept me sharp when life has been dull. It’s always exciting to hear the various career paths and pursuits that fellow students have pursued – especially when I come across them unexpectedly here and there. I feel so privileged to have been a part of it all.

How has your B.Hum degree helped your career?

It pushed me to think and write clearly. As someone who oversees people who need clear thinking and writing in their work, I know how hard it is to teach these skills to people in the workforce and I appreciate the way the College instills them.
