Dr. Luciara Nardon, Director of CREWW, formally welcomes Dr. Aliya Kuzhabekova to Carleton University as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Kuzhabekova will be working in CREWW with Dr. Nardon on research projects relating to career and employment transition of immigrant and refugee populations, including immigrant youth, highly skilled immigrants, and immigrant women.
Dr. Kuzhabekova has a Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining CREWW, Aliya worked as Assistant Professor in Higher Education Leadership at Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan, conducting research on international mobility of faculty and graduate students, on women leaders in higher education, and on professional socialization of doctoral students and faculty. During her employment as a faculty member in Kazakhstan, Aliya has secured and completed several funded research projects, including projects funded by the Kazakstani and Norwegian governments, which have resulted in publications on the topics in top higher education journals.
