May 21st, 2024

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) awarded a $1.65 Million grant to Carleton School of IT’s Dr. Chris Joslin through the Collaborative Research and Training Experience grant program. Joslin, and co-director, Dr. Lesley Istead, will direct the funding to their visual effects training and research hub—the VIsual effectS and animation InnovatiOn and simulatioN (VISION) program. The program will offer core training to the film and television industry’s growing visual effects (VFX) sector, where professionals skilled in VFX methods often lack the experience to transfer their skills to industry work.
