Marzieh Amini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, cross-appointed to the School of Information Technology at Carleton University. She is the Optical Systems and Sensors undergraduate program coordinator. Her research interests include computer vision, remote sensing, autonomous vehicle, sensor fusion and biomedical signal processing. She has been awarded several grants and industrial research contracts supporting her research, including NSERC Discovery Grant, NSERC CFI JELF, The Kenneth M Molson Foundation grant, NRC Transportation Program, several research contracts with Natural resource of Canada (NRCan). She is a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario, Canada since 2019. Before joining Carleton University, Dr. Amini was a data scientist in BlueCity.ai worked on development of automatic traffic monitoring using 3D LiDAR sensors. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Visual Motor Research Lab in McGill Center for Intelligent Machines (CIM) and a lecturer at Electrical and Computer Engineering department of McGill University from 2018 to 2020. She was ranked first in the Nature and Technology category to receive an FRQNT postdoctoral fellowship in 2018. She served as a red judge in the final round of IBM Watson AI XPRIZE.
