The Eastern Europe and Transatlantic Network and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence are very pleased to co-host the lecture, “The Rediscovery of Great Power Politics”, with Professor Sven Biscop.
Event Description:
How Putin, Xi, and now Trump deal with Europe and Canada is not dissimilar. Great powers do as great powers do. Is there any space left for a strategy based on multilateralism and cooperation, or must Europeans and Canadians accept the rule of great power politics and embrace geopolitical and geoeconomic rivalry in order to survive?
About the Speaker:
Prof. Dr. Sven Biscop lectures at Ghent University and leads the Europe in the World Programme at the Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations in Brussels. He is a member of the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences of Belgium and an honorary fellow of the European Security and Defence College of the EU.
The Eastern Europe and Transatlantic Network is hosted by the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University and with a grant from the MINDS (Mobilizing Insights in Defence and Security) which is funded by the Department of National Defence.
