Monday, November 2, 2026 from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm

Poster for upcoming eetn event

Serbia’s October 25 parliamentary elections follow years of deepening political polarization and mass protest. Far from resolving these tensions, the vote seems likely to sharpen them, and some commentators now warn of the risk of serious internal conflict. This panel brings together scholars and voices from the region to discuss the election results and what they mean for Serbia’s politics, society, and place in Europe.

Chair:

Jeff Sahadeo, Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, Carleton University

Panelists:

Zoran Oklopčić, Department of Law and Legal Studies, Carleton University

Andrea Jovanović, Institute for Political Studies, Belgrade (joining online)

Tanasije Marinković, Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade (joining online)
