This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety”. There are many sounds that a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm can make, including beeps and chirps. The sounds are telling you to act. Beeping or a loud alarm sound means smoke or fire – get out, alert emergency services, and stay out. Chirps are often battery-related. Test devices monthly, change batteries yearly and replace devices every 10 years. Be familiar with the sounds your devices make.
