Teacher and Lead of the Language Department

After completing my Combined Honours B.A. at Carleton in English and Sociology, I went to Queen’s University to complete my Bachelor of Education. I started to teach in 2001 and have been teaching secondary English classes ever since. I have held the Language Department Lead position for at least eight years.

My English degree has informed all areas of my teaching. I use analytical skills when helping students to interpret different texts. I use oral-communication skills daily in class lectures, and when interacting with colleagues and parents. I use my essay-writing and editing skills when I teach students how to properly format essays and how to edit their writing. Learned at Carleton during my English degree, these skills are imperative to my teaching practice.
