Degrees: | BA English (Carleton, 2024) |
As a very recent graduate, I am in the process of transitioning into life beyond Carleton University. During this time, I have taken on the role of a business owner, artist, and writer. My English degree from Carleton has equipped me with the creative skills to develop a brand, provide support to my community, and bring concepts to life. Throughout my studies, I had the opportunity to engage in a wide array of literature, creative writing, and culture-based courses, all of which have been instrumental in my achievements thus far. These experiences have also provided me with the necessary foundational skills needed for future opportunities. My degree at Carleton not only empowered me to become a business owner but it allowed me stay connected to my love for art and creativity.
My degree at Carleton informed me of the numerous opportunities available to me in the English field and their connections to creativity, culture, and philosophical ideas. I gained an understanding of writing as a powerful tool in shaping our everyday life, as well as the importance of capturing diverse voices and experiences to improve our society through connectivity and education.
I chose to pursue my undergraduate studies at Carleton due to the B.A. English program’s unique integration of creative writing and cultural studies in its courses. At the beginning of my academic journey, I did not have a fixed idea of my career path, but Carleton’s wide selection of electives allowed me to explore a range of topics and narrow down my academic focus.
