Jaclyn Lytle is a full time promotional writer for a national engineering, architecture, and planning firm, as well as a freelance strategic communications consultant, writer, and editor. She is also a published journalist and contributes to a diverse range of local and national publications.

Jaclyn began her writing career as a volunteer for the University of Ottawa’s English-language student newspaper, the Fulcrum. After earning the distinction of volunteer of the year, Jaclyn was elected to the role of Arts & Culture Editor. The following year she was awarded the position of Features Editor and, subsequently, Executive Editor. After graduating from the University of Ottawa, Jaclyn worked as the National Arts & Culture Editor for Canadian University Press and remained involved with the Fulcrum as a Member of the Board of Directors.

In 2014, Jaclyn made the decision to return to academia and began working toward her Master of Arts Degree in English Literature and Language. Studying full time at Carleton University, Jaclyn focused on constructions of medievalism in fantasy literature, the role of medieval linguistics in those constructions, and the relationship between medievalism and escapism in genre-defining works.

Two weeks after successfully defending her major research paper at Carleton and graduating with her M.A., Jaclyn travelled to Taiwan to teach English as a Foreign Language. There, she earned her international TESL/TEFL certification and founded her freelance writing and editing company, The Grammarian.

Upon her return to Canada, Jaclyn worked as a Professor of Communications at Canadore College in North Bay, Ontario. She then transitioned out of teaching and back into full-time writing, editing, and strategic communications planning. She currently works as a Promotional Writer and as an editorial consultant and writing coach for Canadian authors on a freelance basis.
