Degrees: | BA Honours English with a Minor in Sociology (Carleton, 2008) |
I originally went to Carleton to study Business, but I very quickly came to the realization that I was more interested in pursuing a degree in English Language and Literature. Switching majors was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. While at Carleton, I learned how to manage working on different topics and projects simultaneously, how to think critically, and how to communicate effectively and efficiently. These skills have been invaluable as I have moved through my professional career.
The professors in the English Department at Carleton were knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging, while also ensuring they provided challenging assignments that forced one to hone and develop one’s writing skills. In my current career, I am communicating with hundreds of different individuals and juggling multiple projects and priorities. My time in Carleton’s English Department helped me develop the skills and practices I needed in order to be effective in my role.
