Communications Specialist at the Climate Resourcing Coordination Center, Pakistan

Degrees:BA Honours English (Carleton, 2024)

I am currently working as a Communications Specialist for a climate-finance nonprofit organization in my home country, Pakistan. My undergraduate career at Carleton revealed the wide array of opportunities available to those with expertise in literary analysis and an exposure to cultural studies. I have been a dedicated writer since secondary school, participating in writing competitions and proactively submitting my writing to magazines. Carleton widened my exposure to the writing opportunities available to me and my degree fortified my confidence as I approach a career in writing. Currently, I have published in national literary magazines and met with accomplished writers across Canada. I have recently been admitted to Carleton’s Master of Arts degree in English starting in the fall of 2025 and intend to pursue research and writing in a more professional capacity.

Studying English at Carleton alleviated my doubts about pursuing a research-oriented career. Witnessing the diverse and passionate work in which my professors were engaged has elucidated the possibilities for translating my interest in creative writing and literature into an impactful career. The community of students and faculty in Carleton’s English Department bolstered my confidence as I navigate the world of publishing and writing.

In addition to its beautiful campus, Carleton offered me a generous scholarship which influenced my decision. During my undergraduate career, I saw more of what Carleton has to offer. More than anything else, I was inspired by the dedicated and passionate professors of the English Department and the work that I saw myself doing some day.
