Sabrina La

While completing my BA at Carleton University, I also worked as a student staff within the Housing and Residence Life Department. Shortly after graduating, I secured a position as a Residence Manager. My time studying as an English major has fully prepared me to engage with the diverse and ever-changing environment of residence life, while the communication and writing skills I gained have allowed me to build connections with students in meaningful ways. Notably, my English degree has prepared me to ask difficult questions, understand the past and how it informs our present-day society, and advocate for writing and reading as ways to communicate across differences.

At Carleton, I had the great privilege to learn from experienced and passionate teachers. From large lecture-style classes to intimate group settings, each course allowed me to explore my own passion for each topic in different and engaging ways. As a first-generation university student navigating my undergrad during a global pandemic, I also learned to be more resilient, adaptable, and independent. I will always be grateful for my undergraduate experience at Carleton.
