cuTheme Website Migration
- Carleton ITS is currently in Phase 2 of migrating framework sites (e.g., Faculty and Administration sites) to the new cuTheme. If your department’s site has not yet been migrated and you’d like to be added to the queue, please let us know. ITS will follow up to confirm a timeline that works for your unit.
What is cuTheme? cuTheme is the latest theme for Carleton websites—designed to be more flexible, accessible, and user-friendly.
Migration Options
To make the process seamless, you can choose one of three approaches tailored to your needs:
- Full Migration: ITS will migrate your content for you, while you concentrate on your other work. When your site is ready, they will hand it back to you to review.
- Blank Install: Start fresh! A clean site will be set up in the staging environment, and you’ll handle the content build. Please ask Patricia for help, if needed!
- Custom Migration: Migrate select elements like news or people pages while refreshing others—you have options, let’s talk!
- Decommission Site: The site is no longer needed and can be deleted
How it Works
- Staging: Your site will first be set up in a non-public staging environment for review and updates. During this time, your current site will remain live with no downtime.
- Preparation: Explore cuTheme using our extensive training and documentation and review your content to ensure everything is up to date.
- Go Live: When you’re happy with your staging site in cuTheme, we’ll launch it. Check out our Go Live checklist to help you prepare.
Next Steps
- Please let Web Services/ITS know your preferred migration option by completing this form. Once they receive your response, they will contact you with the next steps. We recommend a full migration.
If you have any questions about the migration process please do not hesitate to reach out to Patricia Saravesi, Web Content Developer & WordPress Trainer.
