Joe McDermott ( He/Him )
Fourth year, Humanities and Biology
Joe is a fourth-year student in the Humanities and Biology combined honours program. He has many academic interests across disciplines, but so far in his university career Joe has most enjoyed studying philosophy, religion, animal biology, microbiology, and genetics. Joe’s extracurricular involvements include serving as an editor for the academic journal Ipso Facto, participation in the Carleton University Debate Society, and helping to organize and present the annual Humanities Colloquium. When not engrossed in his studies, Joe can be found reading everything from fantasy to moral philosophy, vintage/antique shopping with his friends, failing at playing guitar, or attempting to learn too many languages at once. Joe’s interest in becoming an ambassador is motivated by his desire to promote liberal arts education and give back to the Carleton community.
