As part of the Carleton University Research Opportunity Program (CUROP), the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is pleased to offer summer research internships to our undergraduate students.
These internships provide FASS students with a funded opportunity to develop an original research project during the summer semester, under the supervision of a faculty member of their choosing.
To be eligible for a CUROP summer internship, students must:
Students who are graduating in June are also eligible for the internship.
Please note that students can only hold a CUROP internship once during their undergraduate degree and cannot hold two funded positions in different faculties simultaneously.
CUROP summer interns will receive a total stipend of $10,000 (including 4% vacation pay) distributed biweekly (i.e. twice a month) over a 16-week period (May-August).
The expectation is that the research project will constitute a full-time position during the summer months.
Students are invited to submit a research project that they propose to work on during the summer of 2024 in collaboration with a full-time FASS faculty member.
Applications should be submitted in one document and sent via email to Jesse McClintock. One application per applicant will be accepted.
The application should include the following:
Additionally, the faculty member who will be supervising the project should send a statement of support via email directly to Jesse McClintock. The statement should include the name of the student they have agreed to supervise and a brief explanation of why they support the proposed research project.
A total of eight (8) CUROP internships will be awarded in FASS for Summer 2024. Successful applicants will be notified in April 2024.
