B.A. Honours Sociology

As a fourth-year Sociology student, I have developed a strong academic foundation in understanding how social structures and constructs shape individual and collective experiences. My research has explored the internalization of social norms and their influence on thoughts, emotions, and behaviour, as well as environmental justice issues related to industrial farming. These interests have guided my aspiration to pursue law school following graduation, intending to build a career in human rights law.

Through my studies, I have come to value equity, community, and a critical awareness of the systems that shape our lives. I actively apply these principles beyond the classroom through community-centred work. As the Lanark County Event Coordinator with Parkinson Canada, and through my involvement with local outreach organizations, community festivals, and Our Third Place in Ottawa, I support initiatives that foster connection, inclusion, and collective well-being. My professional experience also includes developing and facilitating programming for youth, as well as coordinating meaningful community experiences.

As a student ambassador, I aim to share both the academic and practical value of studying sociology—highlighting how it not only deepens our understanding of society, but also equips us to contribute meaningfully to the communities we are part of.
